It's a razor blade among butter knives.
If you thought the SportJon was impossible to improve... look what's new from Compeau's...
Read on for a sneak peak of this remarkable jetboat. More information will be posted here soon so stay tuned!
When we here at Compeau's originally came up with the concept of a high performance, durable yet light and nimble jetboat back in 1998, the idea seemed a bit radical. In September of 1998, we custom ordered a prototype 21’ tunnel-hull with a Mercury V6 Sportjet package. The results were incredible.
Over the past ten years, the SportJon has been the best selling tunnel-hull jetboat in the country because of it's superior power-to-weight, miserly fuel economy, unmatched shallow water ability, brutal acceleration, tremendous payload and unmatched handling. The list goes on. The SportJon changed all the rules and reigned supreme in the jetboat market.
Until now that is... we’re raising the bar again, only this time, the gap gets much wider.

Introducing the SportJon “X”, otherwise known as the SJX. With over 45 improvements and dozens of new standard features, the SJX will be the most sought after jetboat in (or out of) the water. If you’ve been considering a new SportJon you’ll be glad you waited for the SJX!
For a glimpse of some of the many advantages of this boat versus the competition, just keep looking...

The NEW SJX! |
|
|
Let's start with the floor and consoles...
The new SJX has a full aluminum floor vs plywood or plastic like many of the competitors. The advantage is light weight, durability, and no possibility of warpage or the floor becoming waterlogged in a few short years. All of our new SJX boats feature our DuroMax-liner coated interior standard, in your choice of several colors. This incredibly tough coating not only looks great, it prevents eye-flash from bare aluminum when you are driving up the river. Compared to Zolatone paint (an add-on cost for the SportJon and many other jetboats), DuroMax is times more durable and will look new years after you buy it. The boat shown features one of our favorite color choices, one we call "Moose Blood Red."

On the SJX, look how the consoles are custom fitted to welded supports along the side of the boat. This not only provides much better rigidity and support for the mid section of the hull, you have virtually no vibration or console shaking, even in bigger rollers and chop. An added bonus is the SJX consoles are machined and designed for a perfect fit, so there are no big airgaps or cover plates to let in cold air. |

Rather than a single plastic 28-gallon tank, the new SJX comes standard with a built in 40-gallon rear tank, and reinforced, noise dampened storage areas. The result is longer range (over 7 hours of cruise vs 5), and a much quieter ride. We've incorporated four exciting new technologies to make this boat quieter and to isolate the driver and passengers from the engine and jet. Hmmmm.. quieter, more range, smoother in the waves... can it get any better? Keep reading.... |

Let's have a seat and check out the controls...
The Mercury SmartCraft DLX single gauge system is not an option on the SJX - it's standard! Now, at a glance, you have the most information ever regarding your Mercury Optimax engine; RPM, Fuel Flow, Range, Engine Temperature, Charging System, Warning Codes. The list goes on and on. With a boat this high tech, why would you want a dashboard full of basic gauges? Protect your engine with the ultimate readout and it's standard equipment on the new SJX!

From stem to stern, we've made the SJX tougher while adding almost no additional weight. Here is just one other example...
The rear swim deck now has stronger supports and bracing as you can easily see in the photo above. There are dozens of hidden improvements under the floorboards, bulkheads and stringers that make this boat much stronger where you need it, and WHEN you need it. We call it a "beefier skeleton." You can call it peace of mind.

There never seems to be enough area to tie down your gear, or grab onto the boat. Some of our competitors must have never had their boat high and dry. Well, it happens to the best of us, especially when you own a boat that gets you where you maybe should not have gone! And when it does, a nice, "hand friendly" grab rail on the sides and nose of the boat make a huge difference when you need to slide it off a sandbar. Last summer, our crew helped get one of our "heavy" competitors off a gravel bar over 100 miles up the Goodpaster River. It took six of us over 90 minutes to get that pig... uh.. jetboat... back into floatable water, and by the time we were done, our hands were all cramped up from having nowhere to grab onto the boat. Of course, due to the weight of their boat, that particular brand does not offer a wheel kit like the one we developed a few years back.
